family snuggling in black and white photo

You may have some questions about booking your Joshua Tree Family Photoshoot with me, and I hope this page can answer those for you. Of course, should you have any additional questions not addressed here, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Do you only do photography inside Joshua Tree National Park?
Nope! I am happy to travel to another location (travel fees may apply) that you might have in mind. Some clients want to have their photo session at their local AirBnb, which is totally fine. But please make sure it is okay with your AirBnB should you wish to do that.

Do you choose the location in the park, or do we?
That’s totally up to you. I have a few spots that I love and offer a good variety of Joshua Trees as well as the big boulders. But if there’s a particular place you had in mind, I’m open to that as well. Please know, I am well versed in the lighting situations with the spots that I use most often, I can not control the lighting in places unfamiliar to me but I will always do my best to use whatever light is available to me.

How are the images chosen?
After our session together I will start to go through all the images. I will edit any image that meets my quality of standard (i.e. properly lit and focused, no weird faces etc) and isn’t a duplicate. From there, once I complete my editing process) I will load all edited images to an online gallery. I will email that gallery to you and from there you will choose your selected number of images (depending on your chosen collection). At this time you can also choose to upgrade your collection if you just can’t decide/narrow down your choices.

I’m not sure what to wear, can you help?
Absolutely. I am more than happy to send you links to dresses or give suggestions on outfit choices. And, actually, I prefer this! I want you to look the best possible in your photos because you’ll have them forever! If you have articles of clothing already chosen and want my feedback on them, you can send me a photo of the pieces all together and I will be more than happy to share my thoughts on how they’ll photograph.
***For maternity clients, I do offer a small client closet with dress options. I’m happy to share those with you, at no additional cost, for your session.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are always welcome in my sessions. Please know they are only allowed in certain areas of the park and there are a lot of sticky and pokey things that can get into their paws in any of the areas we may be walking with them.

Do you offer extended family sessions?
I specialize in smaller, immediate family sessions. It’s important to me that my sessions are intimate and emotive. My style doesn’t always lend itself to large extended family portrait sessions. While I am happy to do them if your heart is set on me as your photographer, please know there are additional charges that will apply for these types of sessions as this is like doing multiple family sessions in one.

I’m afraid my child (or significant other) won’t cooperate for the full 60 minutes….Do you offer mini sessions?
Not at this time, but it may be something I offer in the future. However, due to my style of photography, most children (and spouses) do just fine during their session. My sessions are about the connection with each other, not the camera. It’s more about you loving on your little ones, not forcing them to smile a certain way at the camera. You’re also not required to use the full 60 minutes. I work pretty quickly and if we get everything we’re wanting in less time, great!

Do I have to pay to get into the park?
Unless you have your own park pass, yes, you will need to pay to get into the park. You will not need to pay for me to enter the park, but your session fee does not include park entry.
